RedM Server Rules

1. Roleplay Over Gunplay

a. You should always be trying to start storylines from scenarios.
b. There must be legitimate interaction before attacking another player - build up the scene leading to violence. The level of violence used should be proportionate to the scenario.

i. Using small talk to then attack players is abuse of this rule [e.g., initiating by saying "Hey, remember me?" and then shooting is not allowed].
☆ Killing someone ends roleplay - instead, try holding them up, kidnapping them, injuring them, or creating an organic storyline for everyone around you.

2. RDM: Random Death Match / Kill On Sight

a. You cannot kill or injure someone without prior interaction. There must be a valid reason or motive behind wanting to hurt or attempting to murder someone.
b. Killing NPCs is considered RDM.

3. VDM: Vehicle Death Match

a. You cannot randomly kill players with your horse or your cart.
b. You must have a prior interaction and motive to kill someone this way.

c. You cannot commit crimes that notify law [bank robberies, store robberies, grave robbing, drug selling, etc.] within 30 minutes of a restart.
d. If someone steals your horse, you cannot whistle it back to you. You also cannot track your horse's position via the map.

6. NVL “Not Value Life”: Fear Roleplay

a. You must always value your life.
b. Take risks according to the situation you are in. The opposing side having superior numbers does not mean you must automatically surrender, but you must behave realistically. Don't be a hero.

i. There is a difference between holding your gun and pointing your gun at someone. If you aren't pointing your gun at someone and they act against you, it's your fault for not keeping the threat active.
c. Think about the consequences of your actions before deciding.
☆ For example, pulling a gun when two people already have guns pointed at you isn't a wise decision. React to situations as one would in real life.

7. Revenge Killing

9. Reviving

a. If you are downed, you cannot be revived and brought back into the scenario to continue participating.
b. Do not use a tonic on another player during PvP.
c. When the fight is over, you may be revived using a tonic to be slightly patched up and spoken to. The party who revived you may not kill you again and must let you walk away from the scenario. c. If you are being dragged, you may cut the rope to escape.

14. Voice Identification

a. If a player is wearing a mask and tries to change their voice, others should respect that effort and not identify them by their voice. If no attempt is made to hide their voice, other players can recognize them by it.

17. Perma: Killing Your Character

a. Permanent death can never be forced on your character by anyone other than yourself. If you decide to “perma”, the decision is final and will not be reversed.
b. Using /do, /me, /hurt, or a /tag to write “perma,” “dead,” or “bled out” or “no pulse” confirms your “perma.”
c. If you do not have a will made with a lawyer one week prior to your character’s death, your belongings are lost. No items are dealt with post-death OOC.
d. Diseases or injuries that cannot be cured or treated in this time period are considered a permanent character death if you choose to have it (e.g., tuberculosis, shot to the heart, shot to the brain, etc.).

20. Combat Logging

a. You cannot quit out of the game during an active roleplay scenario.
b. Just because you are unconscious doesn’t mean the scenario is over. Respect everyone in the scenario—you being unconscious or dead is an important part of the scene for others.

d. You may not respawn while a scene is still active, unless you haven’t been interacted with for at least 20 minutes.

21. Communication

b. This is an English-speaking server, so you must speak English to play here. You cannot speak other languages while in the server as staff may not understand the context of your words.
c. If you have a medical issue that prevents you from speaking, please inform staff so we are aware of the situation.
d. Mute characters are not allowed.

22. Toxicity

Scenario Rules

1. Safe Zones: Law & Doctor's Offices

a. You may not commit any form of criminal or violent roleplay inside the office.

b. This cannot be used as a shield for law or medical characters – the safe zone is void if a law or medical character runs inside the office for cover.

2. Torture: Consent

a. Torture is allowed if both parties consent via /me.

i. Before torturing someone, you must do a /me to show you are willing to cause permanent damage to their body (e.g., /me "Holds knife to eye").

ii. If you intend to remove body parts, please get specific consent from the person before you engage with the roleplay.

b. Even if someone consents to torture, it is their choice to roleplay scars as permanent.

4. Trains

a. You cannot steal trains. You must instead force the conductor via gunpoint to do as you demand with the controls. This is not a safety net for conductors.

Criminal Rules

1. Robbing Civilians

When executed well, this can be highly rewarding for both the criminal and the victim.

Best practices to make the robbery enjoyable for both parties:

  • Avoid “pocket wiping” other players: Do not take every item they have on their person.
  • Do not dump their things on the ground to make them despawn.
  • Be selective about how many items and how much money you take.
  • Roleplay with your victim: Don’t simply search and run. Engage with your victim before, during, and after the robbery.
  • Talking to them can make the experience more fulfilling and less like you are looting them.
  • Leave hints with your victims and/or the law to add depth to the roleplay and create potential follow-up scenarios.

Rules for Robbing Civilians:

a. If you rob a player, you cannot kill them.

i. If you are downed in a hostile interaction by another player, you can be robbed. Fearing for your life and being cooperative might just save your items.

ii. If a player is downed, the scene is over. You cannot revive someone to further the interaction.

b. You cannot rob a player, decide it’s not worth it, return their items, and then kill them instead.

Item Rules:

i. You cannot pocket wipe a player. Be mindful and take only what you really need.

ii. You cannot chain-rob players.

iii. You cannot steal property keys.

iiii. Guns can only be stolen from horses or storage not off a person's body

Handcuffs:

ii. If you cuff someone, you must uncuff them before leaving them.

Additional Robbery Rules:

e. You cannot force a player to remove anything from their bank or storage.

f. If robbing a camp and you force them to open their chest, you may only take what two people can carry.

g. After robbing a player, you must avoid hostile roleplay with them for at least an hour.

h. A wagon’s full contents can be stolen. You must choose between robbing the players who own it or the wagon but not both.

i. A horse’s full contents can be stolen.

j. You may not rob a player when they are in a menu.

i. You cannot hogtie or rob someone when they are using the general store, processing, or any other type of in-game menu.

a. Processors must be placed in accessible locations.

b. You cannot place processors in lockable interiors.

c. You cannot place processors on other people’s property. You may place them outside on your property; however, this puts the property at risk of seizure by law if caught.

d. The number of people at a processor must abide by gang rules (6). You may not free fire around processors and must interact as normal according to our rules.

4. Hostages

a. After grabbing a hostage, you have 15 minutes to start the job. If you do not start the job within 15 minutes of taking a hostage, you must release them if they request it.

a. Max Roster Size: 15

i. Hideouts may be defended by a full gang roster. Attackers must be limited to 6 unless agreed to otherwise by both parties.

c. When starting a war, terms must be settled upon before the conflict starts. These terms will be set and agreed upon by both parties on how the war will end and what is on the line.

d. Once the terms are agreed upon, they must be presented to staff via a ticket, so the staff is fully aware of how the war starts and finishes.

Medical Roleplay Guidelines
